Cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava? Well, I come from Bratislava and live there during summer months. As traveling the world and working remotely, sometimes I found myself in the real struggle: Where will I work from?

My favorite cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava and places ideal for working remotely

Luckily for you and me, there is a bunch of digital nomad friendly cafes in Bratislava, that are easy to find, have fast internet, good menu and you won’t get kicked off after one hour of work. First of all, why would you wanna settle and work from Bratislava, Slovakia, remotely? There is a bunch of kick-ass reasons for settling down for a couple of months in the capital of Slovakia and finding best cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava.

What is the typical cost of living in Bratislava, Slovakia, for the digital nomad, who works remotely?

  • monthly rent goes from 150-450 €/month, according to the location. Get your 25 € Airbnb voucher here.
  • gym membership starts from 19,90 €/month in the city center (I go to FitInn)
  • public transportation prepaid card valid for one month costs 30 € with unlimited rides. There is no metro, but trams and trolleybuses work perfectly.
  • meal in the average restaurant starts from 6 €, in the fancy ones, you’ll spend around 25 € (bistro SOHO is my fav when it comes to eating out). On weekends, make a reservation + its perfect for a fancy date, that won’t ruin your wallet.
  • the average cost of beer is 3 – 5 € in the pub and 0,80 € in groceries stores. For drinks, you shouldn’t pay more than 10 €.
  • Marijuana is illegal, easy to buy, tho and no big deal (if you don’t sell it, obviously)
  • there is Uber in Slovakia, generally cheaper than taxis
  • There are many groceries stores (if you want quality food, you go to Billa and Tesco, for cheaper options, there is Lidl. Avoid Samoška and Terno – overpriced, average with a super Soviet look)
  • Bratislava has the perfect location as your travel base – it’s a lot cheaper than Vienna, which is less, than 1 hour away on the train. Prague is 4 hours on the bus, Budapest 3 hours and there is a bunch of low-cost airlines, that fly from Bratislava airport pretty much anywhere to Europe, for prices starting 20 € to Rome, 50 € to Paris, London, Madrid, etc. All within approx. 1-2 hours of flying time. Check Ryanair, WizzAir, Smartwings
  • there is a huge international community, since many companies have headquarters in Bratislava, like IBM, Amazon, AT&T, etc.

Best coworking space in Bratislava

I don’t like coworking spaces. I have the simple reason for that – I left my corporate office job not to sit in other offices around the world and pay for it. Cafes are the best solution for me and here is the guide of my favorite cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava, perfect for remote work. However, if you are a fan, try Cvernovka, Impact Hub or Connect.

I always crush in Starbucks, but what to do, when there’s no Starbucks nearby? There are few in Bratislava, but only in shopping centers. Do you want to work from busy shopping center? See? Absolutely no. There are few cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava.

Where are the best digital nomad cafes for remote work in Bratislava?

Here is the list of cafés, that I have actually tried and worked from. Wrote down some pros and cons and average prices for coffee.

  • Foxford café in Martinus bookstore, Obchodna street

Why yes: Really cool and chilled place with many plugs, fair prices, 5G WiFi, delicious cakes. It’s ideal for meetings, Skype calls and sometimes, they have live piano music player there, too. You can sit here for as long as you like and if you are broke, just ask for a glass of water. It’s free, lol. Big and spacious table with plugs is upstairs and of course, you can pay plastic. Regular price for coffee or cappuccino starts from 2 €. Cakes cost around 4-6 € and they serve soups and the warm meals, too. It’s in the wider city center area, 10 minutes walking from the Main Square.

Why no: Especially on weekends, it’s really packed and it happened to me numerous times, that I just didn’t find a place to sit, so I left. Not good for working in afternoon hours (from like 6 PM), since there are regular workshops and talks upstairs. However, this is one of best cafes for digital nomads in Bratislava.

  • Urban house, Laurinska street

Why yes: Beautiful, hispter, fancy and cool. This place’s just great and looks super cool. Artists meet there and have long, deep talks, haha. The location of Urban house is great, even better, than Foxford. Laurinska street is in the heart of city center, 2 minutes of walking from the Main Square. Fast internet is a must.

Why no: It’s pricey but delicious.
