Slovakia does have nudist beaches, and most of them are around Bratislava, in Čunovo or at Zlaté Piesky, for example. I’ve gathered official and unofficial spots from western, central and eastern Slovakia in this article. Expect parking trouble in Čunovo, and bear in mind that nudism has been banned in Rusovce since summer 2024.
- Best in Bratislava
- Zlaté Piesky, on tram 4, with snack bars, a gravel shore and a strip of woodland as a windbreak
- Island at Zlaté Piesky
- I swam there from the nudist beach in four minutes one way; it’s fine unless the wind is strong
- Watch out for
- Čunovo has no official car park, and the police fine drivers who park on the yellow line
- Not worth it
- The warm spring in Chorvátsky Grob; the village has had the borehole sealed with a concrete cover, so you can no longer bathe there
- Liptovská Mara
- The Ratkovský peninsula, about 20 minutes’ walk from the no-entry sign, with a stony beach and peace and quiet

Nudist beaches in Slovakia keep getting more popular. I go to one myself now and then, whenever I decide my backside has got far too pale. So I did some googling and gathered all the Slovak nudist beaches in one clear overview. If you know one I’ve missed, tell me about it in the comments and I’ll add that nudist beach to the list.
There are quite a few nudist beaches in Slovakia, mostly around Bratislava but also in eastern Slovakia. I’d be grateful for more tips on the eastern ones in the comments.

Slovak nudist and FKK beaches
Is your favourite nudist beach missing from the map? Tell me in the comments and I’ll add it to the map of nudist beaches in Slovakia. If you’re heading to Croatia on holiday this year, have a look at my nudist beaches in Croatia too. I made this map myself and marked the places where swimming naked is allowed. It also shows unofficial nudist beaches, where people at least go without swimsuits and nobody minds.
Official and unofficial nudist beaches in western, central and eastern Slovakia
Nudist beach in Rusovce
(coordinates: 48.062125, 17.155473)
The nudist beach in Rusovce used to be one of the most popular nudist beaches in Bratislava. Lots of people stop here while cycling along the dyke. They just cool off and ride on. The nudist beach in Rusovce lies right next to the dyke, and the nudists are in full view from it. The water can be a bit colder here, but it’s very clean. Bear in mind that since summer 2024 a Rusovce borough bylaw has banned nudism in public places, the lake included. You can be fined for swimming or sunbathing naked here.
Nudists used to love the little island, which you can wade across to on foot, or even ride over to on a bike. Swimming in Rusovce is officially banned, but nobody really checks. For more places to swim, have a look at my list of lakes for swimming in Bratislava.
Nudist beach in Čunovo and the parking problem
(coordinates: 48.040745, 17.172513)
The nudist beach in Čunovo is small, but very popular in summer and sometimes far too crowded for my taste. There are two lakes in Čunovo, and the smaller one has a nudist area at the back with a fairly large, flat beach. Swimming is officially banned in both lakes, because they lie in the Ostrovné lúčky nature reserve with the fourth level of protection, but people go anyway. As in Rusovce, nobody really checks.
Čunovo isn’t an official nudist beach, but lots of people come here regularly. There are several small, secluded beaches with room for two or three people at most, and one big one. The water at the Čunovo nudist beach is among the cleanest in Bratislava. The smaller beaches along the edges are dusty, which is unpleasant when you come out of the water. Parking, though, is the usual problem, because there’s no official car park. Many people like to park on the yellow line along the access road. The police are then only too happy to hand out fines, unless you have a permit. The yellow line is there for tractors, which can’t get through when a whole convoy of cars parks here in summer.
Guláška nudist beach in Senec
(coordinates: 48.214949, 17.431807)
The nudist beach in Senec, also called Guláška nudist beach, lies right next to the Slnečné jazerá lakes (Sunny Lakes). It’s a very popular area with nudists. It’s a flooded gravel pit, so the water is clean. In summer it can get quite dusty, because there isn’t much greenery. Guláška is sometimes also called Hlboké jazero (Deep Lake).
Nudist beach at Zlaté Piesky
(coordinates: 48.185283, 17.194128)
Zlaté Piesky is popular too, mainly because of where it is. The nudist beach at Zlaté Piesky is right in the city and easy to reach on tram 4. There’s no admission fee, because it’s on the far side of the lake, where access is free. The nudist beach at Zlaté Piesky is on the opposite side from the official beach, and swimming is allowed here.
It’s probably the best nudist beach in Bratislava, and it’s popular with people of all ages. Parking by the Lost Weekend snack bar is still free; the main car park in front of the Areál zdravia complex is paid, and in 2024 it cost €5 for the whole day. There are snack bars nearby and, above all, the shore is gravel. The wind can be a problem at times, but a thin strip of woodland makes a good windbreak. I’ve also written a detailed review with tips for the Zlaté Piesky nudist beach.

The island at Zlaté Piesky
There’s a small island in the middle of the lake at Zlaté Piesky, and you can easily swim to it as long as there’s no strong wind. I tried swimming to the island from the nudist beach and made it without any trouble at all. I used a waterproof GPS watch to measure the distance, my heart rate and my speed. One way took me exactly four minutes. I admit I swam faster than usual, though, because the water was still quite cold and the waves kept hitting me in the face.

The warm spring in Chorvátsky Grob: can you bathe there?
(coordinates: 48.230824, 17.271044)
The spring in Chorvátsky Grob, also known as the warm spring, is a place where warm thermal water rises from the ground. It used to be popular all day, but especially in the evening, when people came here to warm up. You could park right next to it, and the water supposedly (I haven’t checked) has healing properties. A friend brought me here once, and I told myself: never again.
The water is pleasantly warm, but seriously filthy. There are cigarette butts and tissues all around. Come in broad daylight and you’ll feel as if you’re bathing in a rubbish dump.
Note that according to the Chorvátsky Grob village council, the borehole is officially closed and bathing there isn’t permitted. The council has also had it sealed with a concrete cover, so a dip here is no longer possible at all. The water came out at almost 48°C.
Ratnovská zátoka nudist beach
I’ve never been to the nudist beach at Ratnovská zátoka, but I’ve heard a lot about it. The Ratnovská zátoka nudist beach is on the Sĺňava reservoir, and nudists have been coming here for many years. I wouldn’t argue if someone told me that Ratnovská zátoka is the oldest nudist beach in Slovakia. Apparently nudists have been sunbathing naked here since the 1980s. It’s not much good for swimming, though, because the bottom is mostly mud. I’ll definitely try it one day.

Nudist beach at Zelená voda near Nové Mesto nad Váhom
The popular nudist area at Zelená voda near Nové Mesto nad Váhom has a nice, if small, nudist beach. Getting here by car is a little tricky because of all the no-entry signs, yet there’s no shortage of parked cars. The beaches are a bit steep for my taste, and so is the way into the water. On the other hand, the water at the Zelená voda nudist beach near Nové Mesto nad Váhom seemed fairly clean to me. It wasn’t crowded either.
Nudist beach at Liptovská Mara
At Liptovská Mara you can go to the nudist beach on the Ratkovský peninsula (Ratkovský polostrov). There are lots of secluded spots screened by greenery, so your privacy on the nudist beach is taken care of. You can park at this turn-off (49.124907, 19.536371), right in front of the no-entry sign. From there it’s about a 20-minute walk to the nudist beach at Liptovská Mara. You’ll find the beach where swimming and sunbathing naked are allowed at these coordinates: N49.1144870789, E19.5296479099.
The big advantage is the peace and quiet all around. The nudist beach on the Liptovská Mara reservoir is stony. It’s a protected area, so you can only drive as far as the no-entry sign I mentioned.
Bukovec nudist beach in Košice
I can’t personally vouch for this nudist beach in eastern Slovakia, in Košice, but people talk about it a lot. Bukovec is a place everyone in Košice knows, where locals go to sunbathe and swim naked. It’s the Pod Bukovcom reservoir, about 5 km outside the city. It was built in the 1960s as an emergency supply of industrial water for the steelworks, today’s Nippon Steel Slovakia (formerly U.S. Steel Košice). The beach only holds about 50 people, but there’s also a smaller clearing where nudists go. I read a very good review of the Bukovec nudist beach in Košice on the Slovak Naturist Association’s website.
Other nudist beaches:
- Dunajská Streda nudist beach
- Šútovo and Košariská nudist beach on the big lake
- Harčáš nudist beach
And here’s what you told me in the comments on Facebook:
Yesterday a friend told me there’s also an FKK beach near Devín, towards Karlova Ves, by the quarry… I haven’t been there yet, but it’s good to know… I won’t have to drag myself all the way to Rusovce.
A tip for the ‘northerners’: Liptovská Mara, the little Ratkovie peninsula near Liptovský Mikuláš, and Šútovo too.
